IRANZ Courses

IRANZ offers a range of courses for players from junior development courses for 13-15 year olds, advanced courses aimed at promising rugby players in the 16 to 18 age group through to development courses for talented club players aged 18 and over and high performance courses for the top echelon of players and coaches in academies around the world.
For coaches IRANZ offers courses for club, school and age-grade representative coaches through to professional level coaches. We also cater for rugby players wanting to make the transition from playing to coaching. The courses offered are three-day practical coaching courses, five day junior development coaching course, seven-day advanced coaches’ courses, eight day development coaches' courses and 10 day high performance courses. The high performance, development and advanced courses work in tandem with the players' courses where the coaches' course participants work through the IRANZ blueprint with the various specialists employed on that particular course on how to identify talent, design a game plan and drill the team to best utilise that talent, analyse performance and implement remedial coaching.
There has been significant interest for IRANZ to run a new course covering the roles, responsibilities and systems for successful team managers. This Managers' Course will be run in conjunction with the IRANZ Advanced Players' and Coaches' Courses in March 2008 at Massey University's Sport and Rugby Institute in Palmerston North.
For players there is a high degree of focus on position specific analysis and tuition, mental toughness, rugby intelligence and skill development. For coaches it is a rare opportunity to work intensively with the world's best coaches in a practical environment.

This provides coaches and young rugby players a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to analyse their role and position with these experts. The position specific coaches not only work with the players one-on-one, but watch them play in matches against local competition and analyse their performance and style during trainings, match play and afterwards.
IRANZ also runs customised courses for school, club, provincial and national teams. These are designed to suit the needs of the team, coaching staff and budget. Groups stay at the academy and a specific programme is developed in consultation with their coaches and managers to ensure their needs are met. The duration of courses is flexible and matches against comparable opposition can be organised. To date we have run customised courses for schools, clubs and development teams from Australia, England, the USA, Korea and New Zealand. We are now commencing assignments overseas where we attend with our key nucleus and offer the option of employing local staff as well.
