Seven-a-side rugby
continues to explode. The IRB circuit is
becoming more and more popular and this year we saw American crowds turning out
in numbers in Las Vegas; a wonderful venue for this leg of the tournament. Adelaide saw
the emergence of a potential super power in rugby – the United States reached
the final of the sevens which is a first, and only the beginning. I am sure the next decade will see the rise of
China and Russia as well,
in seven-a-side certainly, and this will flow on to the fifteen-a-side game.
IRANZ has been
involved in sevens development courses for 5 years now and we wish to grow this
involvement. To date we have had the
Korean and Indian seven-a-side squads at the Sports and Rugby Institute in New Zealand and
we now wish to take these courses to other locations in the world. We intend
staging programmes around the time of the IRB sevens circuit.
Indeed the future for
the game is exciting and we at the InternationalRugbyAcademy
wish to retain our philosophy of harnessing leading-edge knowledge and passing
it on.
