Rugby Sevens is the newest Olympic sport and will be introduced at the Games of the XXXI Olympiad in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
The Olympics will deliver a new profile for rugby – new audiences, new commercial opportunities and perhaps new giants of the game. The growth of the game is thus expected to be phenomenal as both established and developing nations embrace the opportunity to win an Olympic medal.
IRA is pleased to announce its inaugural Rugby Sevens Clinic in North America which will be held on 3 – 6 August (4 days), 2010 at Infinity Park, Denver, USA. The Clinic will provide Rugby Sevens teams and their coaching staff with the opportunity to be exposed to, and learn from, legends of the Sevens game who have played or coached at the highest level.
There will be a strong emphasis on individual skills that relate specifically to the game of Rugby Sevens, tactical appreciation, strength and conditioning, nutrition and the mental focus and routines required to play at the top.
Teams will be provided with “leading edge” training techniques and the IRA staff will work through team strategy, tactics and the implementation of a suitable game plan that matches the strengths and weaknesses of the team.
The specialist coaches will work with the teams throughout the four day clinic, providing one-on-one tuition to players, watching them play in matches and reviewing their individual and team performances.
